Call to prayer for our church and community during the vacancy

From November 1st every Tuesday will be set aside as a day of prayer for our parish during the time of the vacancy to pray for the church and community and for the selection of a new vicar.

Each week there will be opening worship at 9 - 9.30am and closing worship at 7.30 - 8pm held at St Luke's. Between these times the church will be open for people to come and pray alone or in groups. There will be a display of prayer ideas and other aids to prayer.

Alternatively, if you are unable to get to the church building we encourage you to join in pray wherever you are, setting aside some time especially during the day for this purpose.

A prayer has been written especially for us to use during the vacancy:

Unchanging God, the same yesterday, today and forever,
thank you for the security we find in you.
Creator God, source of transformation and new beginnings:
thank you for the sense of excitement and expectation
as you lead us into a new tomorrow.
We trust you for the future of your church in this place
and ask that you guide and protect us through these uncertain times.
We are your people:
fill us with your Spirit that we might be one in purpose,
one in love, one in you.
Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.  Amen.

Lovely to meet in the quiet space together this morning to launch our season of prayer. Listen for those bells!
