A call to Lent... a call to you and for you!

The beginning of Lent is almost upon us.  Again, this is a magnificent chance to make space to listen to God and discern the way forward.

This year Revd. David is asking everyone to try and make an extra special corporate Lenten effort.  In addition to Sundays in Lent there will be midweek teaching sessions in the Parish to which all are invited to attend.  The sessions will focus on the Christian disciplines and will hopefully act as a springboard for us journeying together and growing in faith individually and corporately.

Lent is a God given time for us as the Church and it has been the custom for Christians of all traditions to set aside and use this time.  Forty days in the wilderness prepared Jesus for his ministry.  God leads us into a 40 day period to prepare us for something.

Holy communion

During Lent there will also be a weekly 10.15am Wednesday Communion service at St Mary & St Peter’s Tidenham beginning with a service of Holy Communion and Ashing on Ash Wednesday, 13th February, and then each Wednesday through to Holy Wednesday on 27th March.  The Parish Church was successfully used for Morning Prayer during the week of prayer last year and provides that quiet space away from things.

Daily prayer

In response to Bishop Michael's call for prayer in all the churches around the Diocese every day through Lent we are asking for volunteers to pray at St Luke's Church. You may like to pray on your own, or with other people; you can sign up for the same day every week or occasional days through Lent or maybe just one day; you can choose whatever time of day suits you best and pray for however long you like; you can use the display and resources in NW corner to aid your prayers.

Please sign up on the rota after the services.
