Today at St Luke's Church, 5.30pm, Robin Riordan will be raising the gavel on several lots. The list of items going under the hammer includes offers of help from church members including gardening, cleaning, ironing, baby sitting, transport and baking, as well as offers from local businesses, including a tax return, meal at the Ferry Inn, riding lesson at SevernVale, afternoon tea at Lindors and a dance lesson. The one free-standing pew at St Luke's will also be offered for sale and a highlight of the evening will be a pair of tickets to the Welsh Open Snooker Championship.

There will be complimentary drinks and nibbles on arrival to allow time to view the listing of available lots and to consider your contributions. St Luke's merchandise will also be on sale. There will be reserve prices on many of the items and if not sold at the event will be available for private sale afterwards. Payment can be made by cash or cheque or by bank transfer.

This event is part of the fundraising campaign to raise funds for the repair and development of the building to increase the ministry and mission of the church. Other events will be held over the next 12 months ncluding a barn dance on 9th July at Sedbur British Legion, a Beetle Drive on13th August in celebration of the consecration of St Luke's church in 1853, a car treasure hunt on 10th September, and a Murder Mystery evening on 24th September. details of events will be published nearer the time
