Links with Community

Christ calls us to be salt and light in the world and to make a difference by living out our faith in the community about us. As a church we seek to share the love of Jesus through serving others and helping out where there is need. Wherever possible we try to support the good work of other organisations and groups who are serving our community.

There is a Church of England School next door to St Luke’s in Tutshill with whom we have close links, with members of the church serving on the Governing Body. The local prep school, St-John’s-on-the-Hill, visit St Luke’s church two or three times each term on a Friday afternoon for a service. Also, through the work of the Children and Families' Minister and Community Minister, we have links with Offa’s Mead, the other parish Primary School, and Wyedean Comprehensive School.

Tutshill Toddler Group

Members of our congregation help out regularly with the Tuesday morning Toddler Group held at the Memorial Hall in Tutshill. Each week they help set and clear up the hall and supervise an art & craft activity for the children with their mums/carers.

Care Homes

Tidenham Parish conduct Care Home Services in Sedbury Park and Castleford House Nursing Homes.  As many of the clients have some degree of dementia, the services can be frenetic at times with people walking about and calling out but they are informal and enjoyable. A team of volunteers, who are trained and DBS checked, are headed up by Margaret Coombs Tel: 629098

Pioneer Community Minister

Following a call to ordination, Janice Hamilton is working on placement in the parish as a Community Minister, alongside her training with CMS (Church Mission Society). The ministry has a particular focus in Sedbury where she serves the local community, working in partnership with other organisations to enhance community cohesion and to share the light of Christ. She is currently working with others to facilitate the development of The Gaff youth club premises for wider community use.
