The Bible tells us that God requires justice and mercy rather than meaningless sacrifices. As a church we believe strongly in seeking justice for the oppressed and overturning the worldly practices of exploitation and greed.

Whenever we offer refreshments at church events we endeavour to use fairly traded products – tea, coffee, sugar.

At St Luke’s each week after a morning service there is a fair trade stall in St Luke’s Room selling a selection of fairly traded products – food and gifts. Catalogues are available to browse and orders can be made. Each year in October or November one of our church members hosts a Fair Trade sale to encourage people to give fair trade presents and cards at Christmas.

Fair Trade Forum

Chepstow is a fair trade town and members of our church, together with other churches and businesses, are involved in the Fair Trade Forum which meets regularly to organise events and activities to promote and publicise Fair Trade.  Fair Trade fortnight is held in early March each year and there are special events focussing on a particular aspect.

Special events

One of our congregation members has experience of speaking at events and giving talks about Fair Trade for groups of all ages. She has planned and led talks and activity sessions for Rainbows, primary and secondary schools, Probus, ladies' groups and church services.
