Our mission statement

The reason we have a church in the Parish of Tidenham is:

'To know and make known God: Father,  Son  and  Holy  Spirit'.

These few words contain a wealth of meaning.

We are called to know God

Through the Bible we can learn about God, his might and power, as well as his love and compassion. His Son Jesus reveals more of his character and gives us an example to follow. By his Spirit we are drawn into an intimate relationship with Him which grows and deepens as we meet with him in worship, walk with him in our daily lives and share our needs, and the needs of others, with him in prayer.

We are called to make God known

Arising from this wonderful relationship with God we are compelled to witness to others about him and his amazing impact on our lives and to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. In following his loving example we seek to serve others, caring for our neighbours and bringing healing and restoration. Together we are stronger, nurturing new believers and encouraging one another to a deeper faith. We strive for justice, upholding the laws of love for all people.

In scripture the God whom we are called to know and make known has been revealed to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

God the Father

As our Father, God knows us completely and loves us as his children, providing and caring for us and longing to welcome us into his presence.

God the Son

Because of his great love for us, God became man in Jesus of Nazareth, living as an example to us, and by his death and resurrection opened the way to us having a relationship with him.

God the Holy Spirit

When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, according to his promise, God sends his Spirit to live within us, assuring us of his love, changing us into Christ’s likeness and empowering us to do God’s work.
