Who's Who


Vicar: Revd David Treharne

david 2David is the new Vicar.   Ordained priest in 2004 David comes from the Church in Wales where he was most recently Llandaff Diocesan Vocations Advisor and Parish P riest of Porthkerry and Rhoose.  Married to Kathy they have one daughter, Roseanna.  David is a keen musician and loves sport (not rugby), good food (game and Chinese) and travelling!  Once upon a time he was also known for doing very good impressions!


Associate Priest: Rev Robert Simpson

Rev. Robert Simpson was appointed in 2013 as the assistant priest who primarily looks after St Briavels and Hewelsfield. He has been a priest for 25 years and has worked in industrial, multicultural inner city parishes as well as the more rural. Before that he worked in an industrial laboratory, as a science teacher, and then, with his wife, as  Missionaries in Rwanda. He is married to Jane and they have six children and five grandchildren so far. Jane was an infant/nursery teacher and Relate Counsellor.

fionaReader: Fiona Gardiner

Originally from Scotland, Fiona is married with two grown up sons. She is actively involved in a semi-professional theatre group and has published her own series of monologues, ‘Voices’, based on Bible characters. She often spends a Sunday afternoon watching the Grand Prix!

janiceCommunity Minister: Janice Hamilton

Janice is married with two teenage children. She served for ten years as Youth and Children's minister in the parish before recently following a call to Ordained Pioneer mInistry. She started a three year course in September 2014 with CMS (Church Mission Society) working as part-time Community Minister in Sedbury on placement. She likes to keep fit, enjoys country dancing and plays various musical instruments adequately.

Jane PennyChildren and Families Minister: Jane Penny

 Jane joined the Parish in September 2014, having spent 7 years as an Education Officer at Gloucester Cathedral. Prior to that she worked as a primary school teacher in North West London. Jane lives in Yorkley with her dog, just around the corner from her parents. When not ministering to children and families in the parish she enjoys walking the forest, going to the cinema, spending time with friends and creating greetings cards. One of her favourite pastimes is going out for coffee and cake.


Church wardens & PCC

David Burr

David was elected as Church Warden in April 2013 following in the footsteps of Gerald Blunt who faithfully served the parish for 25 years. David is an active member of Rotary in Chepstow.

Peter Jones

Peter was recently elected as Church Warden in April 2016. He is a retired Civil Engineer who retrained as an environmental something or other ten years ago. He is married with two grown up boys who now have their own growing families. Pete enjoys being a grandfather and ...

PCC Secretary: Polly Morgan

Polly attended her first meeting as the new PCC secretary in May 2016. She is recently retired from being a medical secretary and glad to offer her time to serve the church. She is married and....

henryPCC Treasurer: Henry Wills

Henry is the longest serving member of the PCC, recently celebrating fifty years service. As well as being treasurer for the church he does the accounts for a number of other local organisations including the local Amateur Football League.
